What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. StoryCheck also uses similar technologies such as local storage and pixel tags. We group them all under “cookies” in this policy. We use them to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the service is used, and measure our advertising.

Your choices

EEA, UK and Switzerland: opt-in

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we set only strictly necessary cookies until you make a choice. Analytics and advertising cookies load only after you opt in through our cookie banner. Everywhere else, non-essential cookies are on by default and you can opt out at any time.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:

  • Use to review and update which optional cookies you allow.
  • In the United States, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
  • Control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break sign-in, checkout and other core features.

Categories we use

Strictly necessary. Required for the service to work, so they cannot be switched off. These include sign-in and session cookies, security and anti-fraud checks, checkout with our payment processor, and cookies that remember your language, currency and your cookie choice itself.

Analytics. Help us understand how StoryCheck is used so we can improve it, including product analytics and session-replay diagnostics (form fields are masked in replays).

Advertising. Let us measure our marketing campaigns and show relevant ads on other sites. These are set by, or share data with, the advertising partners listed below.

Cookies we set

A representative list (exact names and lifetimes can change as our providers update their tools):

  • Necessary: authentication/session cookies, sc_consent (your cookie choice, 12 months), language and currency preference cookies, country (approximate country from your IP, used to show the right banner and pricing).
  • Analytics: session-replay and product-analytics storage, and, where configured, Google Analytics (_ga).
  • Advertising: Meta (_fbp, _fbc), a first-party campaign id (sc_eid), click identifiers (sc_gclid, sc_ttclid, and related), and campaign attribution cookies (sc_utm_*).

In consent-required regions, the analytics and advertising cookies above are set only after you opt in.
