The terms behind StoryCheck.
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and StoryCheck (“StoryCheck”, “we”, “us”). They include a mandatory arbitration provision and a class-action waiver. Please read them carefully.

Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using StoryCheck, creating an account, or completing a purchase, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, you may not use the service. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use StoryCheck. By using the service you represent that you meet these requirements and that you will use the service only for a lawful, permissible purpose.
Acceptable use
You agree to use StoryCheck only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- Use StoryCheck to make decisions about employment, tenancy, credit, insurance eligibility, or any other purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or similar laws.
- Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, defame, dox, or otherwise harm any person.
- Resell, redistribute, scrape, or build a competing database from reports or the service.

You are responsible for your use
Nature of the service and data accuracy
StoryCheck aggregates information from user-provided inputs, publicly available sources, partner data, and licensed third-party providers. Reports present possible matches and confidence scores, not confirmed facts.
Subscriptions, automatic renewal, and billing
Certain features are offered on a paid subscription basis. When you subscribe, you expressly authorize StoryCheck and its payment processor to charge your payment method for the applicable fees, including on a recurring basis, until you cancel.
- Trial and renewal. A $3.99 charge covers a 7-day trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically renews and your payment method is charged $29.99 per month, and each month thereafter, until canceled.
- Authorization. By starting a subscription you consent to these recurring charges. This authorization is given at checkout and is separate from any consent to receive emails.
- Card verification charge. To confirm that your payment method supports recurring subscription charges, your trial total of $3.99 is made up of a $3.49 trial fee plus a $0.50 card-verification charge, billed together at or shortly after checkout. The $0.50 is a real charge, not a refundable hold. If the verification does not clear, you are charged the $3.49 trial fee only and still receive your report.
- Price changes. We may change fees on a going-forward basis with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new fees.
- Regional pricing. Trial and subscription prices, currencies, and any applicable taxes may vary depending on your location, and the price shown to you may differ from the price shown to users in other countries or regions. We may estimate your location from information such as your IP address or billing details to determine the prices and currency available to you. The price presented to you at checkout, before you confirm, is the price that applies to your purchase.
Cancellation and refund policy
You can cancel any time. You may cancel your subscription whenever you like from your account settings, or by starting the cancellation flow. Cancellation stops future renewals.
Cancel anytime, but charges are non-refundable
When you cancel, your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Canceling prevents future charges; it does not reverse a charge that has already been made.
Once a billing period (including the trial conversion) has been charged, that charge represents a completed commitment and is non-refundable. Except where a refund is required by applicable law, all charges are final and non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods or unused lookups.
- How to avoid the next charge. Cancel before your trial ends to avoid converting to the monthly plan, or cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next monthly charge.
- After you cancel. Your subscription remains active and you retain access until the end of the period you have already paid for. It will not renew again.
- No partial refunds. We do not pro-rate or refund the current period when you cancel mid-cycle.
Automated systems and AI
StoryCheck uses automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to operate the service. Two uses matter most to you:
- Support and account requests. Most support and account requests are handled by automated systems that are trained on our policies and authorized to act on your account, for example to cancel a subscription, update account details, or answer a billing question. This is how we can respond around the clock, in your language, usually within minutes. Any message you receive from our support team may be generated by these systems.
- Report content. The summaries and narrative text in a report are generated by AI from the data our sources return. Like the rest of a report, they describe possible matches and signals, not confirmed facts, and are subject to the disclaimers and acceptable-use limits in these Terms.
Automated outputs can contain mistakes. If you believe an automated reply or a report got something wrong, contact support and we will take another look.
Disclaimer of warranties
Limitation of liability
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StoryCheck and its officers, employees, and suppliers from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use or misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including billing, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.
Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without liability.
Dispute resolution; binding arbitration; class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully
You and StoryCheck agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You and StoryCheck waive any right to a jury trial and agree that claims may be brought only on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. If any portion of this section is found unenforceable, the remainder will continue to apply.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except that the arbitration provision is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StoryCheck regarding the service.
